Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-04-19

1. Welcome

Iconic Voices ("we", "us", "our") operates an AI-narrated audiobook service featuring public-domain works in the style of the original authors. These terms govern your use of our website, waitlist, and (once launched in Phase 4) our subscription audiobook service.

Today, the service is a private-beta waitlist only. There is no purchase flow, no audio streaming, and no account. When billing launches (planned Phase 4), additional billing-specific terms will be added and we will email waitlist members for explicit opt-in to the updated terms.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) and have the legal authority to agree to these terms. If you are using the service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.

3. Accounts and the waitlist

Today we collect only your email address (and, optionally, first name and a preferred author) when you join the waitlist. You are responsible for keeping the email accurate and under your control. You may unsubscribe at any time by emailing legal@iconicvoices.example with the subject "Delete my data" — see our Privacy Policy for details.

When subscription billing launches, account creation will require email + password (via Supabase Auth). Subscription-specific terms (billing cadence, refund windows, cancellation) will be added here at that time.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

5. Intellectual property

The underlying texts we narrate are in the public domain. The AI-generated audio narrations themselves, our platform code, website design, and branding are the property of Iconic Voices. See our Voice Rights page for how we handle AI-voiced content and right-of-publicity.

6. Nature of the service (AI disclosure)

Every narration on Iconic Voices is an AI-generated interpretation inspired by the original author — not a recording of the author's actual voice. Where the author has no authentic archival recording (e.g., Darwin, Dostoyevsky, Adam Smith), narration is produced by a professional voice actor in the style of the author. See Voice Rights for details. We do not represent, and you should not assume, that any narration is the author's actual recorded voice.

7. Limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of the service is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (which, during the waitlist phase, is $0). We are a bootstrap company with a small operating budget; we are transparent about this limit.

8. Dispute resolution

If you have a dispute, please email legal@iconicvoices.example first — we aim to resolve most issues informally within 7 business days. If informal resolution fails, disputes will be handled in the small-claims court of the operating entity's jurisdiction (to be specified once our legal entity is formed).

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Iconic Voices' operating entity is registered (to be specified once the entity is formed; likely Delaware, USA for a future LLC). Pending entity formation, we will default to the laws of the jurisdiction of the service's primary operator, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If changes are material, we will notify waitlist subscribers by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect, and we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
